Interpreter Internships

"I wanted to be a part of an environment where the attitude is positive and the expectation is that interpreters will continue to grow. I found everything I had hoped to at OSD." ~ Interpreting Intern

Benefits
  • Opportunities to observe skilled interpreters in a variety of settings
  • Opportunities to interpret in independent and team settings
  • Mentoring with skilled interpreters and Deaf language models
  • Language exposure through interaction with Deaf adults and children

Philosophy
The Ohio School for the Deaf is a unique environment with a variety of interpreting settings and language use. We strive to ensure that each internship is conducted in an atmosphere of support and collaboration. Interns bring unique competencies and experiences; our goal is to build and expand existing skills. Interns and mentors develop specific learning objectives and strategies for improvement to enable interns to maximize their experience.

Student and Working Interpreter Internships
Internships are available for both students at interpreter training programs and working educational interpreters. Internships can last from one week to one semester. On-campus housing is available.
