Division of Curriculum & Instruction Services
Denyse Woods, Principal

The Division of Curriculum & Instructional Services at the Ohio School for the Deaf offers instructional programs to Ohio's Deaf and Hard of Hearing infants, toddlers, children and youth, and their parents and families. Instructional programs are based on Ohio's Model Curriculum and the New State Standards in each of the core content areas. We are committed to the academic and careertechnical development of each of our students. Through the IEP process, we strive to craft and implement an educational program designed to foster and develop each child's educational needs. The Division endorses a bilingual bicultural environment throughout the School; each individual's communication rights and needs are recognized and respected as we hold the highest expectations for the parallel development of both English and American Sign Language competencies in our students and ourselves.

Students in grades 6 to 8 are enrolled in the Middle School in this Department. This is a special time for students as they begin the transition from elementary school to high school, and from childhood to young adulthood, and this important transition is recognized and fostered in the Middle School programs. Student programming is more departmentalized and students rotate classes for core content area instruction.

Department for Secondary Education
Denyse Woods, Principal

OSD's High School contains grades 9 through 12. The program is fully chartered by the State of Ohio meeting the same standards as other high schools in the state. Instruction is departmentalized and prepares students to meet graduation requirements as well as to transition into their anticipated post secondary life.
